SettleWorth Money Sweep

Check your Air Canada disruption expenses

This is about the August 2025 Air Canada / Air Canada Rouge labour disruption, not a 2026 strike. Start with the official Air Canada disruption route below. Keep receipts and use the airline’s official process for itinerary-specific reimbursement or passenger-rights questions.

This blind spot is bigger than one database. Using each source's latest published snapshot, roughly C$4.97 billion is reported across six distinct official Canadian recovery pools: CRA uncashed cheques; Bank of Canada unclaimed bank balances and outstanding retail debt; and Québec, B.C. and Alberta unclaimed property.

These are separate official programs or registries, not a count of unique people and not a promise that any amount belongs to you.

CRA C$1.878B (Jul 2026) ↗ · Bank balances C$1.60B (Dec 31, 2025) ↗ · Retail debt C$386.9M (Dec 31, 2025) ↗ · Québec C$712.3M (Sep 23, 2026) ↗ · B.C. C$222M ↗ · Alberta C$168M (Mar 31, 2025) ↗

Someone you know may have a completely different match.

If this sweep is worth checking, send it to a parent, sibling, friend or executor. The shared link carries only a coarse “friend-share” source so SettleWorth can tell whether sharing leads to useful official actions.

We're looking for the first five Canadians willing to try a free Recovery Review. The next page opens a prefilled pilot email through the existing support contact. Tell us only which official checks you already tried.

Do not send your SIN, banking information, CRA credentials, passwords, government ID, claim documents, receipts, wills, medical information or other sensitive records. SettleWorth does not decide eligibility or submit claims.

Air Canada · Aug. 15–23, 2025 disruption

Air Canada labour-disruption expenses

Were you disrupted by the August 2025 Air Canada / Air Canada Rouge labour action? Air Canada published a goodwill reimbursement path for reasonable out-of-pocket disruption expenses.

Air Canada said roughly 500,000 customers were disrupted. Its special goodwill policy covers eligible disruptions from August 15–23, 2025 and asks for receipts for reasonable hotel, meal, ground-transport and other out-of-pocket expenses. Country-specific passenger-rights rules can also depend on the itinerary and circumstances; use Air Canada’s official disruption flow rather than assuming a fixed compensation amount. SettleWorth does not collect booking references, receipts, passport data, payment details or claim documents.

CRA uncashed cheques

Check whether the CRA has an older tax refund, credit or benefit cheque that you never cashed.

CRA says eligible personal cheques more than six months old appear in My Account. Government of Canada cheques do not expire.

SettleWorth action guide

Do this in CRA My Account

  1. Open Uncashed cheques

In My Account, choose “Uncashed cheques” from Overview or Accounts and payments. Online lookup covers eligible personal cheques that are at least 6 months old.

  2. If a cheque is listed, get the personalized form

Download the pre-filled PWGSC 535 form for that cheque. CRA says the replacement form is personalized, so a generic public copy will not work.

  3. Complete and sign it by hand

Fill the remaining fields, sign and date by hand, and add your name and address. CRA says electronic, digital and stamped signatures are not accepted.

  4. Submit it through CRA

In Submit documents, choose No for case reference number, Other as the topic, then “Send Form PWGSC 535 to request a duplicate of my uncashed cheque.” Send one form per cheque.

If the cheque is for a business or trust, is under 6 months old, or is not shown online, CRA directs you to its phone route instead.

Bank of Canada unclaimed balances

Search the Bank of Canada’s Unclaimed Properties Office for money transferred from federally regulated financial institutions.

The official service lets you search for and claim unclaimed bank balances and check an existing claim.

SettleWorth action guide

Do this in the Bank of Canada search

  1. Search by name first

Use the official Unclaimed Properties search with a last name or business name. First name, city and province can narrow the results. You can also search by account or instrument number.

  2. Open a plausible property and choose your relationship

If a result looks relevant, start the claim and select the claimant relationship that actually applies to you.

  3. Enter claimant contact information

The Bank of Canada process asks for contact and mailing information and may ask you to confirm the address before submission.

  4. Submit and save the Claim ID

Complete the electronic-signature step, review the claim, submit it, and keep the Claim ID. The Claim ID is used to reference the claim and check its status.

Supporting documents depend on the claimant relationship. Keep personal and sensitive information inside the Bank of Canada’s secure claim process.

Then check unclaimed money where you live

The provincial unclaimed-property registries currently in this sweep are Québec, Alberta and British Columbia. Choose yours if it applies; a missing province here does not mean there is no money to recover.

Québec

Revenu Québec unclaimed property

Search the provincial register for unclaimed successions, inactive financial assets and other property administered by Revenu Québec.

The register is free to search. Revenu Québec says new property is added regularly.

SettleWorth action guide

From register result to a Québec claim

  1. Search the free provincial register

Use Revenu Québec’s register to look for unclaimed financial assets, successions or other property connected to you or someone whose rights you represent.

  2. Identify what kind of property you found

The claim route changes by property type and by your relationship to the owner. A financial asset you own yourself has a different route from an estate, a minor’s property or a business asset.

  3. For your own identified financial asset, use the online route if available

Revenu Québec says an owner can use My Account for individuals when the financial asset has been identified as belonging to them. The status of online claims can also be checked there.

  4. Use the required form when the online route does not apply

Owners can use form BD-81.1-V. Parents, tutors and representatives must use that form; heirs or liquidators use the succession-specific forms. Follow the official property-specific instructions before sending documents.

For financial assets worth less than $500, Revenu Québec publishes a 10-year claim period from remittance to the Minister of Finance; for $500 or more, it says there is no claim deadline.

Alberta

Alberta unclaimed property

Search Alberta’s government registry for missing property and money, then claim through the official process if you find a possible match.

Alberta says the registry includes abandoned property transferred to the province and that searching is free.

SettleWorth action guide

From Alberta search to submitted claim

  1. Search using your name variations

Start in Alberta’s official Search for Lost Property and Money. Alberta recommends trying a first initial, nickname or other names you have used.

  2. Select the property you can actually claim

After the search, follow the result flow and select only property for which you are the owner, legal representative or another permitted claimant.

  3. Complete and submit the online claim

Enter the requested claim information, submit the claim, then keep the confirmation page and confirmation number for your records.

  4. Send supporting documents using the confirmation number

Alberta requires proof of ownership after the claim is submitted. Use the confirmation number to upload, email or mail the requested supporting documents through the official process.

Alberta says claims must be submitted within 10 years after TRA receives the property and that review can take up to 120 days, longer if more documentation is needed.

British Columbia

BC Unclaimed

Search BC’s free public list for unclaimed money from sources such as credit unions, estates and courts.

BC Unclaimed operates the province’s unclaimed-property program and lets people inquire about possible matches.

SettleWorth action guide

From a B.C. name match to a claim

  1. Search your name

Use BC Unclaimed’s free database. Try the name that may have been attached to the account or payment; a match is a lead, not proof that the money is yours.

  2. Submit an inquiry on a plausible result

If a result looks like yours, follow the result’s inquiry flow. BC Unclaimed says it responds by email with more information and the next claim steps.

  3. Start the claim with BC Unclaimed

When instructed, create the official BC Unclaimed account and start the claim. Keep all identity and ownership documents inside that official service.

  4. Upload the proof BC Unclaimed requests

Its published standard asks for two pieces of government-issued identification plus one document connecting you to the listed amount. BC Unclaimed reviews the evidence and may ask for more.

BC Unclaimed says the claim process can take 4+ weeks. SettleWorth does not ask you to upload IDs, SIN information or ownership documents.

Make Believe Ideas I Spy a Fly! board book

Immediately stop using the recalled Groovy Baby I Spy a Fly! board book (ISBN 9781836422594): its four plastic wings can detach and pose a choking hazard.

Health Canada says to remove the four wings, cut each wing into four pieces, photograph the 16 pieces on or beside the final page, and discard the pieces somewhere inaccessible to children. Then contact Make Believe Ideas at 1-888-919-3919 (5 a.m.–12 p.m. ET, Monday–Friday) or ispy@makebelieveideas.com and submit the destruction photo for a refund. No refund deadline is published. SettleWorth does not collect purchaser/child identity, contact or payment details, the destruction photo, or refund correspondence.

Canada-wide · lithium-ion safety recall refund

Cambridge Audio Yoyo (M) speakers

Immediately stop using the recalled Yoyo (M) speakers: disconnect them, do not charge them, and store them safely away from combustible material because the lithium-ion battery can create a fire hazard.

For Canada, Cambridge Audio says the cash refund is the price paid per boxed pair with proof of purchase, or C$300 per boxed pair without proof. Keep the speakers until Cambridge processes the refund and gives disposal instructions; do not put them in household garbage or recycling, mail or courier them, open them, or remove the battery. Use the official Cambridge form for the handoff. No refund deadline is published. SettleWorth does not collect serial-number photos, proof of purchase, address/payment details, or refund correspondence.

After the repair is completed, photo documentation can qualify the consumer for a digital $25 gift card valid at participating retailers; this is not a cash refund. Canada · soy recall + Costco refund

Rossdown Black Garlic Chicken Chunks

Costco says the affected 840 g Chunks product may be returned to a Costco warehouse for a full refund. CFIA also identifies other Black Garlic Chicken products, but the verified full-refund route is only for the Chunks SKU; do not infer refund rights for the other SKUs. No universal refund deadline is published. SettleWorth does not collect allergy or medical narratives, Costco membership or payment information, receipts, or other claimant proof.

Canada · child-safety recall refund

SHEIN Pull & Chew Montessori teething toy

Immediately stop using a recalled SHEIN Pull & Chew Montessori Teething Toy and remove it from a child. Safely dispose of it so it cannot be reused before pursuing the refund route.
