Acceptance of these Terms

Using the website means you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the site.

Informational purpose only

SettleWorth provides plain-language summaries and discovery tools relating to publicly available Canadian settlement information.

Summaries may be incomplete, outdated or contain errors despite reasonable care. Check the official source before taking time-sensitive action.

No legal advice or eligibility decision

SettleWorth is not a law firm, does not provide legal advice, does not represent users, and does not determine legal rights or eligibility. A possible match is not approval, a guarantee or a promise of payment or another outcome.

Nothing on the site creates a lawyer-client relationship or another professional relationship.

Official sources control

Settlement notices, court materials, claims administrators and other official sources control if they differ from SettleWorth. You are responsible for checking the official requirements and deadlines directly.

No claim submission

SettleWorth does not submit claims, receive claim forms, process claim payments, act as a settlement administrator or charge users to file claims in the current service.

Your responsibilities

You are responsible for deciding whether to visit an external site, reviewing official requirements, protecting sensitive information, ensuring information submitted to third parties is accurate, and seeking qualified legal or professional advice when appropriate.

Acceptable use

Use the site lawfully. Do not interfere with its operation, bypass security, introduce malware, use malicious automation, scrape it in a way that harms the service, impersonate SettleWorth, misleadingly suggest an affiliation with SettleWorth, or submit sensitive information through a public contact path after being warned not to do so.

Ordinary personal browsing, linking, search-engine indexing, accessibility tools and reasonable research use are permitted.

Third-party websites and administrators

Official settlement sites and other external services are controlled by third parties. SettleWorth is not responsible for their availability, content, privacy practices, security, eligibility decisions or claim processing. An external link does not imply endorsement or partnership.

Intellectual property and brand references

SettleWorth’s original site content, design and code are protected as applicable. Settlement names, organization names, logos and trademarks belong to their respective owners. Their appearance is for identification and informational purposes; no sponsorship, endorsement or affiliation is implied.

Availability and changes

The site may be changed, corrected, suspended or discontinued. The project does not guarantee uninterrupted availability or that every summary will always be current.

Disclaimer of warranties

To the extent permitted by law, the site and its information are provided as available, without a promise that they will be complete, accurate, current, secure or uninterrupted. Nothing in these Terms excludes rights or liability that cannot legally be excluded.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or similar losses arising from reliance on SettleWorth summaries, missed opportunities, external sites or service unavailability. Liability that cannot lawfully be limited remains unaffected.

Limited responsibility for misuse

To the extent permitted by law, you are responsible for losses directly caused by your unlawful misuse of the site, deliberate interference with its security, or infringement of another person’s rights. This does not expand any responsibility that cannot legally be imposed.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the applicable federal laws of Canada, without limiting any mandatory rights you may have under applicable law.

Changes to these Terms

These Terms may be updated as the service or legal obligations change. The effective date will change when an update is published. Continued use after an update means the updated Terms apply from their stated effective date, subject to applicable law.
